‘Diversity gives beauty and power comes from unity.’
India is a vast country, with an overwhelming population and a wonderful amalgamation of cultures
that bring out the beautiful blend that is India today. It is a fascinating feat in itself that so many people,
belonging to such different creed and culture and beliefs
altogether call India their home.
The festive season in India begins around October and
continues throughout the winter till next March or so, but
in reality, Indian celebrations never stop; it’s a never-ending
cycle!
There is a catalogue of festivals that are celebrated
wholeheartedly by the Indian population. Beginning from
Diwali, Holi, Ganesh Chaturthi till Eid and Christmas, the
people of India relish a diverse array of festivals.
The festivals such as Ganesh Chaturthi, Pongal and Onam
are celebrated in some parts of India and yet they are
considered major festivals of the country. The best part about these festivals is that they are based on a
variety of factors such as change of season, harvest, movement of the moon and the uniqueness lies in
their propagation of same virtues that of tolerance, sacrifice and victory.
The most wonderful thing about festivals is they bring nations, neighbours and different communities
together. They bind the entire humankind with the joyous thread of happiness
and celebrations. They not only promote national integration, but the world
peace also.
As Keats has said, “A thing of beauty is a joy forever.” So the festivals of the
world are the beauty and soul of the world.

Festivals - Amalgamation of unity in Diversity
From the high mountain ranges, vast seas , countless rivers and streams to dark forests
,sandy desert and snowy hills, all have contributed to the exceptional culture, heritage and diversity of
India . Among the people there are numerous races, castes, religions, traditions and languages. There
is catalogue of festivals that are celebrated wholeheartedly by Indian population. Ranging from Diwali,
Holi, Ganesh Chaturthi to Eid and Christmas. The varied festivals not only reveal the religious diversity
but also the culture amalgamation existing in the country.
We celebrate festivals of each religion with equal zeal and vigor, and this also proves each time how
our unity lies in diversity. Diwali is the festival of Hindus but you won't find a Muslim or a Christian
child who stays at home when all his friends and neighbors are busting crackers at the local park!
Again do you think that on Christmas Eve, when all the churches and restaurants are dressed up for a
long party, the people belonging to the other communities stay back at home and gaze at the
festivities going on? No, not at all! They are out there partying as hard as, their Christian friends! This
is where the strength of India lies.
In spite of these diversities, Indians feels a sense of unity and oneness among them. We are like
different beads joined together by an invisible string. Our country’s legacy, history, deep rooted value
