A Land of Colourful Festivals
The birth of Hinduism took place in the Indus valley civilization, Which means its
origin dated back to the 2300 BCE. Unlike other religions Hinduism doesn't have
a founder. People believe that this faith existed in the hearts of people from long
time. The festivals of Hinduism are different in different regions. Some have
different names. There are infinite number of Diets in Hinduism but the main
beliefs are in: Brahma, Shiva and Vaishu. The major festivals in Hinduism are:

Suraj School, Sec. 75 Maker Sankranti, Shivratri, Holi, Ganesh Chaturthi, Dussehra and Diwali. As in
later India, India was divided into the hands of many rulers. Making it easier for the Mughal to capture
it. When the Mughal Dynasty came into power it brought Islam religion with them. The many
sculptures that were built by the Mughals. The Taj Mahal built by Shah Johan is one of the seven
wonders of the world. The main festival in Islam is Eid also known as Eid-al-fitr. God or as Allah has no
body. Islam rejects any form of god. Eid is celebrated as the end of the month long, dawn to sunset
fasting of Ramadan. The Mughals ruled us for a long time but every great thing has an end. With the
downfall of Mughals came the British. And brought in Christianity. The main belif of Christian's are in
lord Jesus Christ who is said to be the son of God sent to earth. The day Christ was born is celebrated
as Christmas. Apart from Christmas — Good Friday, Halloween and many other festivals are celebrated.
These were the major religions of India. Apart from these there are also: Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism
etc. India is brought together with these festivals. Our religious beliefs maybe different but when it
comes to celebration our religion doesn't matter to us anymore. This is the specialty of India which
makes us unique. From ancient times now matter how hard times had fallen it is impossible to break
our unity. This is how we maintain our Unity and Diversity through Festivals.
FESTIVALS OF INDIA
A festival is a gathering of people to celebrate something. It can also refer to
a day or more when people in a country have a holiday so that they can
celebrate something. Festivals may be religious or national. We live in India;

community celebrates their own festivals. There are festivals based on state wise,
religion-based, and community-wise. So, every day is a new celebration in our
country. Festivals are very important. They make us forget our cultural and
religious differences. They unite people and they come together for the sole

Suraj School, Sec 75 purpose of celebration and happiness. Other than this, festivals also help us
embrace our culture and religion. Morever
people look forward to festivals all round the
year. At last I want to say that , festivals fill
our lives with colors. They bring us closer
every year and eliminate any feelings of
communal hatred. Further, they strengthen
the bonds of the community and remove the
hatred from people’s hearts. Therefore,
festivals are quite important and must be 9
celebrated with passion and happiness too.
